FAQ

Questions? We've got answers.

Everything job seekers, employers, and partners ask about working with Craftsman & Labor Solutions nationwide.

For Job Seekers

Applying, getting paid, getting to the jobsite, and building a career.

Getting started

How do I apply?

Fill out our short online application (about two minutes) or call our team. A recruiter follows up to confirm details and match you to open jobs.

Do I need experience?

No — many of our roles are entry-level general labor. We also place experienced skilled trades. Apply and we'll match you to what fits.

Is there any cost to apply or get placed?

Never. Workers never pay a fee. We're paid by the employers who hire our crews.

How long until I start working?

Often within days. Day-labor assignments can start the next morning once you're approved.

Pay & scheduling

How does same-day pay work?

On qualifying assignments you can get paid the same day you work, instead of waiting for a weekly check. Same-day pay is subject to contract conditions — ask your recruiter which roles offer it.

How and when do I get paid?

By your chosen method on the agreed schedule — same-day options on many assignments, otherwise weekly.

Can I choose my shifts?

Tell us your availability — days, nights, weekends, or immediate — and we match you to assignments that fit.

Getting to work

Do I need my own transportation?

For now, yes — it helps to have your own ride. A transportation-support program (carpool options and bus-line assignments) is coming soon. In the meantime, tell your recruiter your situation and we'll match you to assignments you can reliably get to.

What should I bring on my first day?

A valid photo ID and your I-9 documents, work boots, and weather-appropriate clothing. We provide basic PPE on the jobsite.

What about safety gear (PPE)?

Basic PPE is provided, and every placement gets a safety briefing before the shift. Additional PPE is available on request.

Building a career

Can a temporary job become permanent?

Yes. Many placements are temp-to-hire — a chance for you and the employer to decide it's a fit before going direct.

Do you help with training or career development?

We connect workers to skills and credentials that open doors — from first job to a long-term trade.

What kinds of work do you place?

Skilled trades (welders, millwrights, carpenters, HVAC, plumbers) and general labor (warehouse, flaggers, site crews, day labor).

For Employers

Requesting crews, our guarantee, compliance, and safety.

Requesting workers

How do I request workers?

Submit a work order online with the role, headcount, start date, and shift — or call the office. You'll get a fast response, often the same day.

How fast can you fill a role?

Frequently same-day in many markets, depending on the trade and headcount.

Is there a minimum order?

No — we staff anything from a single worker for one shift to a full crew on an ongoing project.

What information do you need?

Role(s), number of workers, start date, shift, job-site location, and any requirements (PPE, certs, physical demands).

The CLS guarantee & quality

What is the replacement guarantee?

If a worker isn't the right fit, call us and we'll send a replacement — fast. We stand behind every placement.

How do you screen workers?

We screen for skills, experience, and reliability, and brief every worker on safety before they reach your site. Drug testing and badging are available on request.

What if a worker doesn't show up?

Reliability is our job. If there's a no-show, we move quickly to get you covered — that's what the guarantee is for.

Can I try before I hire?

Yes — temp-to-hire lets you evaluate a worker on the job before bringing them on directly.

Back office & compliance

Who handles payroll and taxes?

We do. Payroll, employment taxes, and unemployment are all on us — you approve hours and we handle the rest.

What about workers' comp and liability?

Our workers are covered by our workers' compensation and liability insurance, reducing your risk.

Do you handle I-9 compliance?

Yes. We verify work eligibility and keep I-9 compliance handled on our side.

How does invoicing work?

Simple weekly invoicing for the hours worked — no hidden surprises.

Safety

What's your safety program?

Pre-shift safety briefings, PPE on the jobsite, and clear hazard communication on every placement. If it's not safe, we don't do it.

Are your workers insured?

Yes — workers' compensation and liability coverage back every crew we send.

About Craftsman & Labor Solutions

Who we are, where we work, and how to reach us.

Who we are

Where are you located?

Our office is at 769 York Street NE, Aiken, SC 29801. Walk-ins are welcome during office hours.

What areas do you serve?

Nationwide. We're headquartered in Aiken, SC and deploy crews across the country; our flagship shutdown, turnaround, and outage crews travel to plants wherever they're needed.

How long have you been in business?

We've been matching crews with employers since 2010.

Are you a local office or a national chain?

Neither, exactly. We're headquartered in Aiken, SC and staff nationwide — our crews travel wherever the work is. You still talk to the same real people every time, not a call center.

How we work

Do I talk to a real person?

Always. From the first call you reach an actual recruiter — no menu trees, no call centers.

What's the difference between skilled trades and general labor?

Skilled trades require a specific craft (welder, millwright, carpenter, HVAC, etc.). General labor covers warehouse, site crews, flaggers, and day labor.
